In 2007, writer was lucky to see Dr. Asghar Ali Enginer. The sad news is he just past way yesterday (May 14, 2013). Dr. Asghar Ali Enginer who was inspired me through his knowledge and understanding on Islam. This article  is tell a story of my short memory with him. Writer was still remember on my question to him after his great lecture on "Islam is religion of Peace",  the question was how if the answer of our life problem are not available in Qur'an, what should we do. Dr. Asghar Ali Enginer said, ask your heart than you will know what should you do. For young people like me at that time, this answer was not expected, especially, I am in the middle of struggling for self Identity. But after many years, I know this kind of answer are very applicable to see where we are. And to know what is the truth. That is applicable for me to see what is happen in Indonesia today. As individual and society, we have been blinded by our ambition and arrogance to push other on our way of understanding and believe. The diversity should not make us fragmented or hate each other. But the diversity and difference shall make us in bless of coloring life and accept the greatest of Allah. The capacity to accept are not something come from out of our self but come from inside of us, because since we, as human able to recognized our living existence, we start to know our self, family, friends who has many differences from us. Than this differences shall be positive input of perspective to see the world and admit the power of God on creation. Than, I reflect to see my State and Nation, where I belongs, the fragmentation, denial, arrogance that is something contradicted with every religion believe in Indonesia are more exist than justice, accountability and transparency. I am aware, when we are leaving religion as basis of our norm and ethic. It may time to ask our heart, so we can judge appropriately to take our action and movement. In the level of option to apply violence as solution or reconciliation as process of complete self perfection to share our fortune with other. Some people who is majority are very difficult to share their land with people who believe on different thing who is minority until they have to be expelled away from their own land. Some of them who is majority are more able to do violence by destroying worship house of minority and lose their respect to law. Meanwhile, some of minority group were bombing and creating a chaos in public, just to show they are able to fight back. Writer think, this the time to apply our heart us judge whether, we are see the truth. Thank you Dr. Asghar Ali Enginer to be my mentor and to share your understanding on Islam as peace religion.

The Rasulullah birthday is celebrated as cultural event of Muslim society in Indonesia. There are various model of celebration is conducted at grass root level. Most of the celebration is not only existing in ritual level that basically reminding as to socio-political history behind it's celebration, but also the celebration move to mythology and sacralization of Rasulullah, a prophet Muhammad. Writer is aware that acculturation can not be refused but consistency should be a principle of faith and belief. People were forgotten that the celebration of Prophet Birthday was coming from Shi'ah society that is part of Muslim civilization. But contradictory fact in Indonesia, the existing of Shi'a group in Indonesia seem unacceptable. The small community in this country that live since long time and they were available as Indonesia diversity of culture and religion. They are attacked and expelled from their land and property. If we see the other group such as Ahmadiyah has been treated with the same way, the way of people who actually is lack on Islamic understanding and principle. Writer do not want to claim as the only person who is understand on this religion, but writer is aware to Islam means "Peace".  The philosophical substance of Islam as way of life is very easy to interpreted when people translate to any kind of word in the world. Than the question is, what is happen to this country, in my point of view, Muslim people of Indonesia is loosing their own nationality. The nationality of nation state that come from appropriate interpretation from Islam as religion. Or Muslim people and society has been infiltrated by group of people who claimed as Muslim to break Indonesia integration and nationality. Moreover, I am aware they are present in Indonesia bureaucracy and acted as government official who make and decide policy. (rn)

Sebuah pesan singkat yang muncul di wall facebook pribadi penulis pada minggu pagi 6 May 2012 yang ditulis oleh saudara Alamsyah M. Ja'far yang redaksinya  "Sedih sekali dengar teman Towik dipukuli FPI karena menggunakan kaos bertuliskan Tirani Mayoritas. Sekarang dia, besok saya, mungkin anda! Kalau negara tak bisa atasi, rasanya patut dicoba model negara yg dipisah-pisah berdasarkan keyakinan lewat referendum". Sebuah pernyataan dan sekaligus ekspresi yang mewakili ketidak-tentuan hukum di Indonesia. Dimana, penghakiman dan kekerasan menggunakan topeng agama serta dengan alasan yang dibuat-buat dibiarkan dan diamini oleh aparat hukum yang hadir ketika kejadian penyerangan tersebut. Berbagai komentar lahir dan menanggapi kejadian ini, tapi kejadian yang terjadi dalam situasi ketegangan antara sekelompok orang yang mengaku muslim dan mengatasnamakan (FPI) dan Jema'at HKBP Filadelfia yang sedang melakukan Ibadah. Beberapa situasi yang makin sering terlihat dan muncul dilayar televisi kita, bahwa pelarangan terhadap kebebasan akan berkeyakinan serta melakukan keyakinan sebagai sebuah bentuk ibadah,  di bumi Indonesia semakin hari-semakin marak. Tidak adanya ketentuan hukum yang dapat menyelesaikan persoalan, sehingga analisis siapa mendominasi siapa pun muncul kepermukaan sebagai sebuah jargon yang mesti ditentang oleh kalangan dari semua golongan  di Indonesia. Akan tetapi pengabaian demi pengabaian  serta peran pemerintah sebagai regulator semakin melemah, dan pada akhirnya munculah pernyataan yang tidak mengenakan untuk dinyatakan, serta perasaan ketakutan pada semua orang yang merasa mayoritas maupun minoritas karena bisa saja menjadi korban dari manipulasi hak dominasi tersebut, seperti yang terjadi pada saudara muslim kita, Towik (aktivis Serikat Jurnalis untuk keberagaman). Lalu pertanyaanya, Kepada siapa kita akan mengadu? dengan segala kelemahan dan kerendahan hati, Apakah Islam agama kekerasan ? (rn)

April 19 dan 20, 2012, Telah terjadi 2 kekerasaan di dua tempat yang menjadi catatan kita pagi ini. Catatan pagi yang indah di Indonesia dan matahari yang terbit dari timur, sekelompok orang yang mengkalim diri mereka sebagai Gabungan ormas Islam telah memporak-porandakan Mesjid yang sejatinya adalah tempat ibadah dan tempat suci bagi Ummat Islam di Singaparna, Tasikmalaya. Dan juga pada keseokan harinya, tepatnya 20 April 2012, kekerasan lain juga terjadi pada sebuah pesantren di Jember, Jawa Timur yang berkedok meluruskan ajaran agama dengan memberikan alasan bahwa pesantren tersebut telah menyebarkan ajaran Islam yang sesat. Sebagai seorang Muslim, penulis didorong untuk berpikir-ulang dan mengkritisi situasi ini, dengan merefleksikan pertanyaan, apakah Islam sebagai sebuah ajaran, mengajarkan kekerasan dalam ajarannya, dan dan pada bagianmana dalam kitab suci seperti Al-Qur'an yang mengajarkan ini. Sungguh suatu yang menyedihkan dan menakutkan bagi Penulis melihat Islam telah kehilangan arah sebagai sebuah ajaran yang itu dilakukan oleh orang-orang yang tidak bertanggung jawab terhadap si'ar Islam itu sendiri, dan hanya peduli kepada pengertian serta pemahaman tafsir mereka, yang menunjukan bahwa dengan merusak serta menghilangkan hak-hak warga lain yang percaya pada satu ajaran yang juga bagian dari perkembangan Ajaran Islam itu sendiri. Dan pada akhirnya seperti menjadi Anak Haram, Kealpaan kita dalam melihat sejarah telah membuat Para Muslim dan penganut Islam keluar dari ajaran utama agama ini, sebagai agama yang menyelamatkan. Sehingga menjadikan kekerasan sebagai alat utama menyelesaikan persoalan.Adalah sa'atnya bagi setiap Muslim dan penganut ajaran Islam untuk menyampaikan keberatan mereka dalam merespon kekerasan para pelaku yang tidak bertanggungjawab dan menggunakan Islam dan Gerombolannya untuk merusak dan menghancurkan fasiltas seperti Mesjid dan Lembaga pendidikan (pesantren).(rn)
