Indonesia and Mother's day

What is the meaning of mother's day for Indonesian people, December 22, 2012 is celebrating by almost people that I know. They said happy mother's day. This years, 2012, I had great opportunity to attend a  community celebration at Pondok Bambu, East Jakarta. The Initiative was supported by a women organization named Asian Muslim Action Network Indonesia and collaborated with school peace of women, Smart group band, and children of Pondok Bambu. The organizer, participants and invitations were trying to give meaning to mother's day through drawing of mother activity in daily life, writing a letter to mother and make up by husband for wife competition. The impression that I got from this activity was expressing peace through love and balance role at house by avoiding violence and forgive each other will give significant impact toward development. I am aware, the development that discussed in international level and forum may be different with those people understanding. When I relay to international forum of development, development is more discussed on number of economic growth and number of poverty level. But it seems the idea of sharing and caring of among poor people or improving feeling of safety are not part of it. Somehow, I see that big people are thinking big thing, but they are forget, the big thing was starting from a small-small thing. This event become my basis to reflect the Christmas and New year of 2013, that I believe the opportunity to move forward is depending to the positive value in our self and capacity to recognized others.(rn)
